Services
Once a return return is selected for audit, the taxpayer is notified. If the issue involved is minor, the matter often can be resolved simply by correspondence between the IRS and the taxpayer. Other examinations are generally classified as either office audits or field audits. An office audit usually is restricted in scope and is conducted in the facilities of the IRS. In contrast, a field audit involved an examination of numerous items reported on the return and is conducted on the premises of the taxpayer or the taxpayer's representative.
We have significant experience representing clients before the IRS in both correspondence, office, and field audits, and have assisted clients with the following:
- Representation at IRS audits
- Offers in compromise
- Lien releases and discharges
- Penalty abatements
- Installation agreements
